Situated across the street from Tampa’s historic City Hall, the 17-story building offers a unique layout with a single lobby serving both the 230-room Hyatt Place branded hotel and 115-room Hyatt House branded hotel. In collaboration with Baker Barrios Architects and Stonehill Taylor, Eaton Fine Art created a unique art collection for the guest rooms, corridors, and public spaces that reflects the cultural influences and visual characteristics of Tampa and the golden age of travel.
Eaton Fine Art collaborated with local artists to customize an art selection that captures the history, theme, and color palette of Tampa. The art collection draws inspiration from the Golden Age of travel and the history of Henry B. Plant—a pioneer from Tampa who built railroads in the Southeast and the historic Plant Hotel. Eaton Fine Art added historic nuances throughout the property such as retro maps of Tampa outside of each guest room door to display the room numbers, historic suitcase images within guest rooms, and art collection of the railroad within the guest corridors.
The art collection not only helps guests connect with the surrounding environment but creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere with a fun, bohemian vibe upon arrival.
