Indianapolis Hyatt House-Hyatt Place is a dual-branded property that faces the main entrance of Bankers Life Fieldhouse – home of the Indiana Pacers. Eaton Fine Art, in collaboration with ownership, interior design firm Gettys ONE, and architecture firm RATIO, curated a unique art collection for the guest rooms, corridors, and public spaces, a portion of which was to be done in collaboration with the Arts Council of Indianapolis Public Art for Neighborhoods Program.
Eaton Fine Art curated 44 pieces, 11 of which were commissioned artworks that drew a connection to the city of Indianapolis and regional sports culture. The first-floor entry showcases Full Court Press, a site-specific sculpture recognizing Indiana’s rich basketball history. The piece was constructed from reclaimed gymnasium flooring, salvaged from the former Harry E. Wood High School, located approximately a mile from the hotel. Stacked abstract basketball forms, such as hoops, balls, and rims, create a towering form, spanning across the 50-foot ceiling and down the opposite walls. The sculpture is activated with illuminated lines by integrating LEDs into the design. The length of the sculpture is approximately the same size as a basketball court from baseline to baseline.
By successfully weaving the sports-related elements, materials, and forms, Eaton Fine Art created a captivating visual narrative for guests.
